Icon not Lucky for Scoop6 Investors

The 20/1 success of Lucky Icon at Galway yesterday afternoon put paid to any lingering Scoop6.

Just one unit remained going into the fifth leg, on Bercasa, who was unplaced.

Course specialist Billesdon Brook lowered the track record at 12/1 in the opening leg before 3/1f Duke of Hazzard followed up his Newmarket success in leg two. Beat Le Bon got an unusual charmed run down the inside rail for a second track record of the day in the Golden Mile at 17/2 to leave just twenty-eight units three races from glory.

The Nursery at 4.10 went the way of Homespin at 7/1 to whittle those twenty-eight to just a sole survivor ahead of the visit to Galway for their 5.10.

The win fund stands at £73,075 while the bonus fund is now £428,511 ahead of today\'s pools opening.

Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said “Scoop6 punters have been out of luck all week with Goodwood proving not so glorious, beginning with the bonus fund going begging on Tuesday. After a week of rollovers the combined funds are now well over £500,000 and with Fred’s £100k bonus plus the money bet into Saturdays pools, we could be nearing a £750,000 combined jackpot this weekend.”

The place fund paid £152.20 and was won by 43 units.

Four of the races for Saturday’s bet hail from the final day of action at Goodwood, where the competitive Stewards’ Cup is the centrepiece, while the other two contests will be at Newmarket, with all six legs live to view on ITV.

There is also an extra bonus of £100,000 available courtesy of Betfred boss Fred Done for a single Scoop6 winner from one of the following qualifying channels – Betfred shops, or Betfred mobile.

Hulmes added: “It’s been a glorious week at Goodwood and how fantastic it would be to cap it with a big Scoop6 winner. The £100k bonus Fred has put up once again will have to be earnt with the competitive Stewards’ Cup, and its equally competitive baby brother Stewards’ Sprint, bookending the six legs.”

The totejackpot also takes place at Goodwood on Saturday afternoon and consists of the first six races on the card, getting underway at 1.50pm, while the totetrifecta rollover race is the Unibet Stewards’ Cup due off at 3.40pm. Sunday’s jackpot card is the first six races of the jumps fixture at Market Rasen.
