Scoop6 Bonus Seeker Burnt as Sugar Scores

Burnt Sugar won his second big handicap in two weeks and in the process scuppered the hopes of the Scoop6 Bonus Hunter who had chosen Shady McCoy in an attempt to add £60,854 to his £74,208 win fund gains from last Saturday.

Shady McCoy briefly challenged on the far side of the Ascot straight course but couldn’t sustain it and fell back to mid division as his Newmarket conqueror Burnt Sugar surged away to score again.

This Saturday’s win fund also went begging after Thundering Blue landed the York Stakes on the Knavesmire in the fifth leg, knocking out the remaining five units.

Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said “For a brief moment it looked like the bonus was on as Shady McCoy threatened but his run flattened out. The bonus fund of £71,038 rolls over as does the win fund of £36,824 onto the final day of Glorious Goodwood next Saturday.”

The place fund paid £160.10 with 89 winning units.
