Scoop6 bonus rolls over to Cheltenham’s Open meeting

Give Me A Copper landed one winner a haul of £42,440 from the Saturday Scoop6 win fund, following a brave round of jumping under Harry Cobden to land the Wincanton feature at 3.35pm. 

111 winners of the place fund secured a dividend of £122.30. Today’s Scoop6 rollover was not won and so rolls over into next weekend’s hugely exciting Open meeting at Cheltenham, where the £160,000 BetVictor Gold Cup Handicap Chase is the highlight race of the afternoon.

Earlier on in the day, Nicky Henderson’s highly touted Fusil Raffles got the better of Grand Sancy to justify short odds in the Unibet Elite Hurdle at Wincanton. Just short of being impressive, this was a positive stepping stone toward a Champion Hurdle campaign.

Up in Liverpool, there were notable performances from the Evan Williams trained The Last Day in Aintree’s 1.30pm, Leg 1 of the Scoop6. The 7yo made light work of his BHA rating of 131 and can seek to contest loftier targets going forward. At 2.40pm, Olly Murphy’s Skandiburg produced a strong staying performance to win Leg 4 under Aidan Coleman. An athletic, improving 5yo gelding, all roads will surely lead to the Pertemps series final at the Festival in March.
