Dettori Delight as Single Punter Celebrates Shortened Scoop6 Success
A single punter landed the £19,428.90 win fund in a shortened Scoop6 this afternoon courtesy of Lord North and Frankie Dettori taking the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket.
As a result of the two legs from Haydock being abandoned, the carried forward amounts for both the win and bonus funds were frozen meaning just the monies from today’s entries was in play.
The opening Royal Lodge Stakes went to the outsider of the field in Royal Dornoch at 16/1 who was the pick of 194 tickets before another 16/1 winner, Millisle in the Cheveley Park Stakes, saw just 25 units head into the Middle Park Stakes. That race went to Earthlight, who although wasn’t selected, returned the 11/4 market leader and took the two units on the unnamed favourite through to the final leg meaning those two tickets were just the Cambridgeshire away from a share of the todays win fund.
One of those tickets was again on the unnamed favourite, the winner Lord North, while the other was on sixth placed Dark Vision.
Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said “Unfortunately with Haydock being abandoned it meant a shortened Scoop6 this afternoon, but one punter was celebrating the Frankie factor as Dettori took the Cambridgeshire on Lord North and a £19k windfall. As all six races were not run, they do not get to play for the bonus fund next Saturday.â€
The place fund was won by 2,789 units and paid £3.40
