One Scoop6 winner in search of Bonus next weekend

Favourite Dame De Compagnie’s victory in Cheltenham’s 3.40pm (Leg 6) saw one winning ticket secure a £186,599.70 Scoop6 win fund on Saturday afternoon. The lucky winner goes in search of a £212,519 Bonus fund next weekend.

With only 16 tickets left in the pool after surprise winner Redford Road took Leg 3, another rollover seemed likely. Wins for Navajo Pass at Doncaster followed by Call Me Lord and Dame De Compagnie meant the final three winners were well fancied to run well. Luckily, one of the two remaining tickets had Nicky Henderson’s smart 6yo mare on side in the final leg.

James Bowen produced a power-packed ride on Call Me Lord to land the Unibet International Hurdle. He looks well worth pointing in the direction of the Unibet Champion Hurdle in March, such was the slickness of his jumping today.

Redford Road may have been a relatively unconsidered £15.70 chance in the 2.30pm Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, but there was a lot to like about the strength he showed up the hill. Nigel Twiston-Davies could have a proper Grade 1 horse on his hands here.

In the feature race of the afternoon, striking grey Warthog rallied gamely to win the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup for trainer David Pipe. Not many got into it and it is difficult to know what the form is worth, but this was a deserving win for an improving horse.
