Bonus not won as £310,000 Scoop6 fund rolls to Ascot next Saturday

The Conditional carried the hopes of both Scoop6 Bonus hunters in the 3.00pm at Warwick on Saturday, but despite travelling and jumping well for much of the contest, David Bridgewater’s 8yo gelding couldn’t quite get home over the trip. The Â£38,503 win fund and £271,818 bonus rolls over to next weekend at Ascot, where the Grade 1 Clarence House Chase takes centre stage.

Bonus race winner Kimberlite Candy was afforded a superb Barry Geraghty ride and typical of trainer Tom Lacey’s horses, he showed resolution in abundance to score handsomely. Connections of this talented young stayer will have have eyes on the Grand National now and along with Ladbrokes Trophy winner De Rasher Counter and others, there’s a growing number of threats to Tiger Roll’s crown.

Earlier on at Kempton Park, Burrow’s Edge took his time to warm to the occasion but eventually stayed on best to land the Unibet Lanzarote Hurdle for Nicky Henderson and Nico De Boinville.

It wasn’t in the Scoop6 pool, but Frodon’s victory in the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton was a highlight of the day. The Ryanair Chase winner displayed all of the zest for jumping we love to see from him. It will be interesting to see if a repeat win in the Ryanair is likeliest, or even a tilt at the Gold Cup. Either way, it was good to see a good horse back to his best.
